Welcome to the club!

Welcome to The Crafty Musician! You'll see updates soon as we get this site up and running, but I'll briefly introduce myself for now. My name is Alex, though you'll see me sign off as The Phoenix. I'm one of three merry crafters, all of us are inspired and want to share our passions with you! I, personally, chainmaille, knit, crochet, wirework, bead, spin, felt, draw, paint, quilt, sew, and weave (a little). I can't pick a favorite, that's impossible! However, I am more proficient at spinning, knitting, chainmailling, and quilting. I put the "musician" in our name, as I play acoustic and electric guitar, piano, electric bass, and tenor saxophone! I was the first chair guitarist in a small jazz program for four years, a tenor saxophonist in the concert band at the same program, and a pianist and bassist by passion. I'm currently attending Missouri University of Science and Technology for a degree in Psychology, potentially double majored with Business. I've working in the crafting and handmade business since 2013 and have taught my passions since 2016. I'm the older sister of another musician (she plays drums, violin, cello, piano, and electric bass),though I'm the youngest in our sisterhood of crafters. I have two dogs, a jackabea named Bella and a Springer Spaniel/German Pointer mix named Daisy, also known as Lil' Moo. I am a disc golfer and an epee fencer, in my little spare time, and I am a member of the S&T Fencing Club, where I have met most of my closest friends. Previously I've played basketball, as a post, and softball, as a pitcher and shortstop. Entertainment is a HUGE inspiration to me! You'll catch a lot of my designs themed after or inspired by television shows, movies, books, and music. I have a lot of T.V. shows I enjoy, but Supernatural, Riverdale, Sherlock (BBC), Doctor Who, Futurama, Brooklyn 99, Friends, and Transformers G1 are all solid choices. For movies, I do love action movies, such as the MCU movies, Pirates of the Caribbean, and The Princess Bride. However, series like Harry Potter and The Hunger Games also hold a place in my heart. Some of my one-off favorites are Mean Girls, 42, A League of Their Own, and Bumblebee. Music can be a little all over the place for me. I love classic rock, and my love of Supernatural just drilled that further into me! You can catch me playing guitar along to Guns 'n Roses, Tom Petty, and Black Sabbath right before my Spotify shuffles and I head for the piano to play some Taylor Swift. A huge influence on me, since 2015, has been the "emo trinity" of Fall Out Boy, Panic! At The Disco, and My Chemical Romance. Books have been neglected since I started college. Unless it's Sur le Vif or Psychology of Adolescent Development, I don't usually have time to read it. I do, however, make the time for Sarah J. Maas' wonderful books, namely the A Court of Thorns and Roses series! I thank you, so very much, for visiting our site and reading this post!
